SFU Beedie hosts world’s premier MIS competition, CaseIT 2026
SFU’s Beedie School of Business once again welcomed the world to Vancouver for CaseIT 2026, the 23rd edition of its flagship international undergraduate Management Information Systems (MIS) case competition.
Held February 15–20 at SFU Beedie’s downtown campus, this year’s competition brought together 16 universities and more than 80 guests from across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Over the course of an intensive week, student competitors tackled both a six-hour and a 24-hour case challenge, developed in partnership with Pragilis Solutions and the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation.
Beyond the competition rooms, participants experienced a full slate of social programming designed to showcase SFU’s campuses and the city of Vancouver—building friendships and global connections that extend far beyond the event itself. Students also the opportunity to visit the Microsoft offices for a workshop, panel, and networking.
A student-driven global experience
CaseIT is entirely student-run, with more than 40 dedicated BBA students leading eight months of planning and execution. The organizing committee worked closely with Academic Director Connie Liu and Ashley Tam from SFU Beedie’s Office of Student Experience to deliver a seamless and impactful experience.
“This year, the CaseIT team welcomed 16 universities from around the world to compete in a week-long competition hosted downtown at SFU,” said Alexis Yew, 2026 CaseIT Chair. “Seeing our community come together, from the organizing committee to our competitors, coaches, judges, faculty, and sponsors, has been gratifying. Our collective commitment is what makes CaseIT such a meaningful experience year after year.”
Faculty members also played a critical role throughout the week, supporting judging and facilitation. Special thanks to Annamina Rieder, Moksh Matta, Meysam Fereidouni, Matt Martell, Peter Tingling, Nilesh Saraf, Jie Mein Goh, Aishwarya Deep Shukla, Susan Christie Bell, and Associate Dean Kamal Masri for their contributions.
Celebrating excellence
After two rigorous rounds of competition, top honours were awarded to:
- 1st Place: Emory University
- 2nd Place: Chinese University of Hong Kong
- 3rd Place: Universidad Panamericana
- Spirit Award: Indiana University
- Best Speaker: Jenny Jiang, Emory University
As CaseIT enters its third decade, it continues to solidify its reputation as the world’s premier MIS case competition—offering undergraduate students a platform to test their analytical skills, tackle real-world business challenges, and build a truly global network.
For the students who organize and compete, CaseIT is more than a competition. It is a defining leadership experience—one that reflects SFU Beedie’s commitment to applied learning, collaboration, and international engagement.
