SFU ranks among Canada’s top three institutions for management information systems (MIS) research
Simon Fraser University has been recognized as one of Canada’s leading institutions for management information systems research, ranking second or third nationally in the latest Information Systems Research Rankings, depending on the ranking methodology used. The rankings assess research output published between 2023 and 2025 in the three premier journals in the field: MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), and the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS).
The rankings are published through the Association of Information Systems (AIS) Research Rankings platform, a widely used benchmark for research performance in the information systems discipline. According to the latest results, SFU is tied for second in Canada based on total publication count and ranks third nationally when publications are adjusted to account for co-authorship.
The recognition highlights the strength of information systems research conducted by faculty in SFU Beedie and reflects the impact of their contributions to advancing knowledge in digital technologies, business innovation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and information systems management.
The Information Systems Research Rankings track scholarly publications in journals that are widely regarded as the premier outlets in the field to provide a measure of research excellence and influence within the global information systems community.
The result adds to SFU Beedie’s growing reputation for research excellence and reflects the calibre of faculty expertise in the Management Information Systems (MIS) area that informs teaching and research across SFU Beedie’s programs.
Note: The AIS Research Rankings platform restricts redistribution of the full ranking tables. SFU’s reported standing is based on the 2023–2025 rankings published through the AIS Research Rankings platform.
