Since 2021, SFU Beedie School of Business’s Executive Education and KPMG have partnered to develop innovative learning experiences that prepare professionals to lead in an increasingly digital, data-driven business environment.
Designed around KPMG's culture of continuous learning, these custom programs offer flexible learning opportunities that help KPMG professionals strengthen technical expertise, develop leadership capabilities, and stay ahead of evolving client needs. KPMG’s Digital Academy allows KPMG professionals to pursue graduate-level education tailored to the advanced data, analytics, and leadership skills at the intersection of accounting and emerging technology.
These credit-based programs allow for a unique and flexible learning opportunity for KPMG employees, designed to accelerate desired skills and capabilities across the entire KPMG organization while allowing participants to walk away with a globally accredited degree in the areas of their profession.
KPMG Digital Academy Program Profiles
Graduate Certificate In Accounting With Digital Analytics
As institutions and their audit committees are increasingly concerned with technology and data analytics, this program was developed in deep partnership with KPMG to deliver on the knowledge and skillsets critical to employees of one of the top financial corporations worldwide.
Over eight months, participants advance their knowledge of data analysis through four core courses and one capstone course. The Certificate is fundamental to the professional advancement of participants in the accounting profession, and prepares KPMG employees to embrace technological change and obtain the skills they need to play a vital role in helping client organizations create value.
Master Of Science In Accounting With Cognitive Analytics
KPMG’s Master of Science program was developed to prepare professionals to lead the future of accounting. Building on the Graduate Certificate in Accounting with Digital Analytics, the Master's program develops advanced expertise in accounting, data analytics, visualization, statistical analysis and agile collaboration.
After completing the Graduate Certificate, participants complete four advanced core courses and a capstone project over an additional twelve months, applying their knowledge to complex, real-world business challenges. Graduates are equipped to lead analytical teams, drive innovation across client engagements and deliver strategic insights that create measurable business impact.
Christopher des Rosiers, graduate of KPMG Digital Academy’s Graduate Certificate in Accounting with Digital Analytics, and Master of Science (MSc) in Accounting with Cognitive Analytics, was the recent recipient of the prestigious Convocation Medal.
Non-Credit Micro-Credential Programs
Data Analytics And Visualization Micro-Credential
This non-credit micro-credential program was created by KPMG and SFU Beedie’s Executive Education to meet the increasing demand for analytics and visualization skills for KPMG’s practitioners.
The curriculum is designed to be immediately applicable to employees’ roles, and can be completed in 15 – 20 hours, spaced out over six to eight weeks. Core courses cover data analysis, forecasting, and visualizations, and help participants understand how digital transformation and innovation are needed to bring data-derived insights to life.
By applying modern analytics tools and techniques to real-world business scenarios, this custom-designed micro-credential program strengthens the technical skillsets of KPMG employees, and aligns with the firm’s strategy of delivering greater value in an increasingly data-driven profession.
Assessing, Combining & Visualizing Data
Participants will focus on core skills around data preparation, data sharing and visual data analysis, building the personal productivity and data analysis capabilities to participate in the digital environment at an enterprise level.
Advancing Analytics & Automation
By analyzing processes and looking for opportunities to automate tasks, participants in the course will enable more efficient use of powerful people skills in combination with supporting systems.`
Digital Innovation & Integration
This course will investigate digital systems, relational databases and interrelated business processes within an organization, which give rise to the need for integration of processes and data across enterprise systems.
Presenting Data to Support Decisions
Participants will use their core skills in data analysis to create stories with supporting visuals that will have impact. Combining the strengths of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI with effective storytelling will enable greater impact for the data analysis work being done within the organization.
Causality & Prediction
This course will investigate important visual and analytical tools to better understand relationships between variables, building critical thinking and understanding of the interpretation and analysis of relationships with more than one variable.
Forecasting Data Over Time
By analyzing historical data and using predictive models, organizations can gain insights into financial performance, KPIs, and operational inefficiencies, allowing them to make proactive changes and stay ahead of the competition.
