Job Opportunity - Training Facilitator, SFU Environmental Health and Safety

Training Facilitator Job Posting:

Would you like to make an easy $25.50/hour?

Would you like to help train the next generation of SFU students, faculty, and staff?

 

Then join SFU Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) as a Laboratory Safety Practical Training Facilitator.

 

This involves helping train small groups of trainees (up to 5 people) in a teaching laboratory in one-hour sessions. Training subjects include: PPE, conducting a lab safety inspection, fume hood operation, chemical spill clean up, compressed gas safety, and chemical/biological contamination awareness.

 

Application requirements:

 

  • current SFU graduate student/postdoc (any discipline, but laboratory experience is a must),
  • laboratory work/study experience,
  • Preferred: has gone through SFU Lab Safety Training previously.
  • Preferred: ability to commit to at least 4 hours at the beginning of each semester for one year or more.

 

All successful applicants will be trained (paid training time, paid prep and take down time) and will have the opportunity to shadow current training facilitators first before training their own group. A training coordinator and other training facilitators will be on-site during every session to help you with training.
