The Simon Fraser University (SFU) Institute for the Study of Teaching and Learning in the
Disciplines invites applications for a Research Assistant appointment for the final step of a
Teaching and Learning Development Grant project “What can a blended language course
bring to intermediate students in French?” to begin in June 2019.
This final step of the project consists of analysing and visualization of data.
Research assistant responsibilities include:
• Entering data from questionnaires into Excel;
• Analysing collected data;
• Communicating and discussing the results of the analysis with supervisor;
• Using data visualization techniques to highlight the project’s findings.
Required qualifications and skills:
• Currently enrolled in a graduate program at SFU (MA or PhD, qualified undergrads may
be considered);
• Experienced with quantitative data analysis (data cleaning, appropriate analyses, data
visualization);
• Skilled in use of Excel, as well as other data analysis packages;
• Available to meet with the supervisor at the end of June and end of August;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Ability to work independently and productively.
Total appointment hours: 20-30
Rate of pay: $20 - $25/hr (incl. vacation and statutory holiday pay, no medical or dental
benefits) - based on experience, qualifications and degree program.
