RA opportunity - Experiential Learning through Tangible Labs
Research Assistant
Institute for the Study of Teaching and Learning in the Disciplines (ISTLD)
The Simon Fraser University’s ISTLD invites applications for a Research Assistant appointment for the Teaching and Learning Development Grant project “Experiential Learning Through Tangible Labs” to begin in July 2019.
Research assistant responsibilities include:
• Literature review;
• Survey design and implementation;
• Survey data management (data entry, organization, and evaluation);
• Analysing and summarizing collected data;
• Regular communication and discussion with project supervisor;
• Summarizing data and project findings in a written report.
Required qualifications and skills:
• Currently enrolled in a graduate program at SFU (MA or PhD, qualified undergrads may be considered);
• Background in Education, preferably in Science education or Engineering education;
• Ability to select and implement meaningful analyses, including appropriate statistical treatment;
• Experienced with quantitative data analysis (data cleaning, appropriate analyses, data visualization);
• Skilled in use of Excel, as well as other data analysis packages;
• Strong organizational and communication skills;
• Ability to work independently and productively.
Total appointment hours: 30 – 40 hours; July 2019 to December 2019
Rate of pay: $20 - $25/hr (incl. vacation and statutory holiday pay, no medical or dental benefits) - based on experience, qualifications and degree program.
