Position open until filled.
Are you a graduate student currently registered at a BC post-secondary institution and residing in BC and interested in learning more about patient-oriented research (POR)?

The student undertaking this paid project will complete an inventory of such organizations through online searches and interviews and will consult with our provincial Patient Council. This full time role can be completed virtually from your home office with weekly webconference (Zoom) check-ins with the project leads.

Please send your CV/resume and cover letter to: bjampoh@bcsupportunit.ca
You must be:
- A resident of BC during the position period of July-November 2020.
- Currently registered in a graduate studies program at a BC post-secondary institution.
- Capable of taking part in regular online meetings
- Self-motivated
Open until filled.
Details: The BC SUPPORT Unit Hub has identified the need for a concise easy-to-use tool to help members of the public better understand what organizations and institutions engage patients, caregivers or members of the public in patient-oriented research.
The development of a “BC Registry of Patient-Oriented Research Organizations” (“Registry”) will involve:
- Meeting with the BC SUPPORT Unit’s patient engagement coordinators and lead to collect their ideas and feedback
- Performing an environmental scan of health, research and patient organizations in the province to identify those that involve patients in POR
- Interviewing individuals at these organizations to explain the project, seek their consent to participate and collect details
- Drafting an easy to navigate online Registry
- Discussing the draft with the provincial Patient Council
- Finalizing the Registry
- Other activities might arise during the Registry development
The Registry would then be promoted via our website, newsletter, social media, and regional centres for uptake by interested patient partners.
The Registry is modeled on a project completed by the Ontario SPOR SUPPORT Unit (details: https://www.ctontario.ca/cms/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/OSSU-Patient-Engagement-in-Research-Catalogue.pdf)
