Labour and Climate Change Research Opportunity
I have an SSHRC grant that involves carrying out research on the potential of the construction industry and, specifically, buildings to cutting BC’s GHG emissions and energy use. The research project that I am pursuing involves documenting and evaluating the campaign by several building trades unions to encourage the industry to raise insulation and related energy efficiency standards for new and renovated buildings. It will involve analyzing documents and participating in interviews with various union, government and industry actors. Part of it will also involve examining the extent to which the training and apprenticeship system for building workers includes climate literacy components.
The project is part of the larger Adapting Work and Workplaces to Respond to Climate Change which can be found on the following web site:
https://adaptingcanadianwork.ca/
I am looking for a graduate student who may be interested in working with me on this research project. I will be looking for experience literature searches, carrying out interviews and assisting with the preparation of research reports.
The pay rate will be $25 per hour and the amount of time involved is negotiable but at least 10 hours per week.
If interested, please contact me at jrc@sfu.ca
