The Department of Indigenous Studies invites you to join us in celebrating Dr. Eldon Yellowhorn's upcoming retirement by watching one of his final lectures on heritage foods and food sovereignty.
Food security and sovereignty are issues that all Indigenous people encounter as consumers, particularly when accessing sea foods and country foods becomes more difficult. Maintaining customary diets and choices is a daily challenge in a food system that encourages mass production and empty calories. The result is a decline in quality of life issues while biopiracy and pharming Indigenous knowledge erode the use of traditional remedies.
