SFU Students Shine at 2026 Chinese Bridge Competition

On April 27th, SFU Chinese language students made their mark at the awards ceremony for the 25th Chinese Bridge Proficiency Competition for Canadian College & University Students, British Columbia Region. The event was held at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in downtown Vancouver as part of an International Chinese Language Day celebration. We are delighted to share that several SFU students achieved excellent results in the competition.
In the Mandarin Speaking Contest (Junior Group), Tony Giroux took first place, Julian Loewenherz second, and Marianne Huang third. In the Mandarin Singing Contest (solo singer) Andia Nowtash placed first. Notably, Tony and Andia were invited to showcase their talents at the event itself with Tony invited to deliver a speech and Andia performing on stage before an international audience.
Big congratulations to all four students on their wonderful achievements, and to WLL Senior Lecturer Cynthia Xie and TA Eulice Jiang whose dedication and support made their success possible.
