Linguistics Graduate Student Colloquium Committee
The Linguistics Graduate Student Colloquium Committee (LING-COCO) was formed in 2024. Their mission is to support student-driven engagement and planning for department colloquia, seminars, poster sessions and other research-related events as well as social occasions.
Members of LING-COCO volunteer their time to ensure that these events reflect the interests and input of our graduate students. The committee conducts polling to nominate potential research talk speakers, organizes one-on-one meetings with visiting speakers (open to all students including undergraduates), and liaises with other departments in the university to promote our events, among many other tasks.
Recent events include the Sweet Sixty Conference, as well as research talks by Marzena Karpinska, Ana María Relaño Pastor, Paul Compensis, Kyra Borland, Tamara Bodden, and Barbara Dancygier. For upcoming event listings, see the Colloquia page.
LING-COCO organises networking and other career opportunities for the Linguistics graduate student community. Additionally, the committee arranges social events such as potluck celebrations and pub gatherings.
