There is no free parking on the SFU Burnaby Campus; all parking is paid parking, via permit, paystation, or app.

Summer & Fall Permits

Summer Renewal information will be sent April 1st. 
Open sale for new Summer permits will be April 13th.

Fall Renewal Information will be sent July 31st. 
Open sale for Fall permits will be August 18th. 

Purchasing Your Permit

Students commuting to the Burnaby Campus can purchase an Indoor Permit, an Outdoor Permit, or a Residence West Lot Permit for the semester. 

Students attending the Surrey Campus can purchase permits for SRYC or SRYE.

WAITLISTS: FAQ

If a parking permit is showing as Waitlisted, that means that we have reached capacity for sales. If you would like to purchase that permit, you will need to register for the waitlist, and wait until a permit becomes available.

As there is no free parking, if you are planning on driving to campus, you will either need to select an alternate permit, purchase daily parking, or use a FlexPass.

When will I get off the waitlist? 

Unfortunately, we don't know - each semester is different, and any availability would be based on other permit holders cancelling their permits etc. This does happen frequently during the first few weeks of classes as students settle into their schedules etc. 

Student Resident Permits

Students living in SFU Residence & Housing should contact parking@sfu.ca for authorization for overnight/long term parking in the Residence Lots.

Long term/overnight parking is not permitted in any other SFU lot without prior authorization.

The online system allows you to self-manage your parking account. 

Update your license plates, contact information, see your active permits, and your past transactions.

Roaming Privileges

Roaming Privileges are in effect at the Burnaby Campus after 4:30pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends and statutory holidays. During this time any permit holder may park in any permit lot, visitor lot, or any space not marked as disability accessible or 24 Hours Reserved. 

Vehicle Information

  • Vehicles MUST be registered to a permit before they are parked on campus. 
  • A vehicle may only be registered to one account at a time.
  • Vehicles can only be registered to a permit if they have no open/unpaid citations.
  • A maximum of four vehicles can be registered to a parking permit; only one vehicle may be parked with a permit on campus at a time. 
  • The permit holder is responsible for all fines issued to their license plate/vehicle. 

Parking Regulations:

Those parking on campus are responsible for abiding by the Parking Regulations; Parking and Sustainable Mobility Services both tickets and impounds vehicles found to be parked in violation.

SFU Parking and Sustainable Mobility Services operates the parking at the Burnaby Campus. Different parking regulations apply at the Surrey and Downtown Campuses.
