Boisjoly is a Guggenheim Fellow!
The SCA's Raymond Boisjoly has been appointed to the 2026 class of Guggenheim Fellows in the field of Fine Arts. Congratulations, Ray Ray! See all of the Fellows HERE. NOTE: Yes, the Guggenheim Fellowship comes from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, which is different and separate from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. But really, can't the Guggenheims all just get along? Or at least enough for the sake of this joke image?
Marks' Legacy Award
Congratulations to the SCA's Laura U. Marks, who joins Mark Jaccard and Kelley Lee as the 2026 recipients of SFU's Legacy Award, which "recognizes a senior-career researcher (at the rank of Full Professor) who has set a standard of excellence and inspired change to the way research or research-creation in their domain is approached, conducted, or conveyed, beyond the specific findings of their work." The SCA's Eldritch Priest's pleasure drenching… is being performed by the ensemble Apartment House, with Priest himself on lap steel guitar, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at London's St Mary-at-Hill (Lovat Ln, London, UK). Brković's updates
SCA alumnus Irfan Brković shared several great updates: he's been accepted to Concordia University's Individualized Program PhD, starting September 2026; he met with Dejan Slavuljica, the head of the Design department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, to "discuss opportunities at SCA's undergraduate and graduate programs;" he played a set as Poskok at HRAM, a listening bar in Sarajevo; and he's organizing VideoSync, "a video art festival in Montreal in the Spring of next year, in collaboration with former Phase Space NYC."

Robinson's Cap Review workshop

The Mainlander Editorial Collective shared the editorial, "Police training facility is an affront to people’s vision for Woodward’s," about the choice to put a police training facility in the former location of London Drugs in the Woodward's Complex, where the SCA's is also located. Read it HERE.

Anza-Burgess' 3MT
Rose Anza-Burgess, a current PhD student in SFU Faculty of Education, and also an alumna of our MA program, was one of the finalists for SFU's 2026 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) event on April 9 at SFU Surrey.
